Mexico:
Santa's Helpers
The St. George Youth & Outreach Committee announces
that we will be joining the "Santa Program" at St. Innocent
Orphanage. Santa’s Helpers, are able to make
Christmas the joyful, magical, love-filled
and holy feast that it should be for every child. Some of the
boys of St innocent have never received a Christmas gift or had a Christmas
dinner prior to coming to live at the
St Innocent Orphanage.
Our willingness to become one of Santa’s
special “elves” will ensure that each boy will have gifts under
the tree. Please, donate towards the purchase of
clothing for the 2 boys we are Adopting. Gift Lists will be available next in Parish Hall. UPDATE: Thank you to all who donated. The money raised made it possible to purchase all the clothing/shoes on the "Boys" Christmas List, plus a few extras. The Youth of the church went shopping for the Boys on Sunday Nov. 23rd, after services. Father Ted led all the families & children of St George's youth to a day of giving for the St Innocent Santa Program. A good time was had by all who participated. We are anxiously awaiting the photos & cards from the "boys" when they open their presents and see their "Santa" gifts. It is hard to say who benefits more, the Orphans or our own youth learning the lessons of Outreach to others from this very young age. Pictured below: Fr .Ted & Presvytera Petula with the youth shopping at Target. Checking their lists, checking it twice... Representing St. George Youth/Outreach- The Antonis Families, The Christian Family, The Kiner Family, The Krespis Family, The Linardakis Family, The Lewellyn Family, The Loukatos Family, The Rodriguez Family, and The Storton Family.
NOTE: Our next Outreach activity will be Godparent's Sunday in February. IOCC Lenten Youth Retreat in March, OCMC Mission Drive in April and Project Mexico Fiesta Luncheon for the 5th of May (Cinco de Mayo). June Carwash to benefit Camp St Sophia Summer Camperships.
